Hivana was born in Bhubaneswar — the City of Temples, the Smart City, the city that is simultaneously ancient and forward-looking. A city where a woman might visit the Lingaraj temple at dawn, attend a meeting at Infocity by morning, and browse the craft stalls at Ekamra Haat in the evening. We built Hivana for her.
One year later, on our first anniversary, we want to take a moment to say something we do not say enough: Odisha made us. The silver heritage of this state, the cultural pride of its people, the sophisticated eye for quality that Odia women bring to everything they wear — all of it shaped what Hivana became in year one.
Odisha’s Silver Heritage — Our Inspiration
Odisha has one of the richest silver traditions in India. The Tarakasi filigree artisans of Cuttack — whose silver thread work has been recognized as a Geographical Indication product of India — represent over 500 years of unbroken silver craftsmanship. The silver payal worn daily by women across Odisha. The silver jewellery gifted at every festival, every wedding, every celebration.
We are not Tarakasi artisans. Hivana's designs are contemporary, not traditional filigree. But the spirit is the same: silver, worked with care, made to be loved and worn. When we design a pendant or a pair of earrings, the 500-year silver tradition of Odisha stands behind us, even if our aesthetic looks forward rather than back.
Our Odisha Customers — You Believed First
The first people to discover Hivana were from Odisha. Customers from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Berhampur, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Balasore and across the state found us before anyone else did. They were the first to trust a new brand, the first to take a chance on something they had not heard of before.
That trust meant everything. Every first order from Odisha told us we were on the right path. Every message from a customer in Bhubaneswar or Cuttack saying they loved their piece gave us the confidence to keep building.
